Layers of life and love

The process of returning the bad tenant house is continuing, hard work but, step by step, the old house is returning, I actually rekindled what I originally felt for the place today.

In the Weldon household, 1960s Liverpool, the wallpaper that my mum chose, for the kitchen, the best room, the kids room, all said something about who she was and what the house meant.

Little Ducks.

In a house of love.

Today in the flea pit, I removed a wallpaper border that was left over from the previous owners of the house, under that was a fantastic retro planes and boats kids border and under that, a homely fifties garden pattern wallpaper.

We found newspaper on the hardwood floors that dates back to wartime, February 16th, 1942 to be exact. The house has it's own rich history, including kids born there who may be in their eighties now, a house with a typical Oshawa history, love, life and tragedy in a motor city town.

Probably mostly love.

No Blog

All days are blending at the moment, Friday was a mammoth clear out of a property we have that has been the victim of a bad tenant. The evening was spent downtown at the Keg with a group of guys from work, one of whom has reached the grand old age of 40.

My Korean buddy shouted across the table that I have not done a new blog lately, well, besides the bad tenant thing, life has been a little on the busy side. I'm making up for no blog, by this blog, which if you read between the lines is sort of a no blog.

A classic no blog, filled with nothing, just a bunch of words from a tired old bugger who does not want to clean and paint the bad tenant house, wants to sit on a deckchair somewhere with a beer and not kneeling on a floor pulling up carpet staples. However, right of passage, I have to go through this to get to that.

We're at Monday already, spent the day there, pushing dry wall compound into holes, brushing floors, wishing that I was ready to paint, but before the paint goes on, the prep must be done.

So, hopefully, a little update blog, when the busy and tiresome time is over, I'll write something.

Until then, sorry, no blog.
