Layers of life and love
The process of returning the bad tenant house is continuing, hard work but, step by step, the old house is returning, I actually rekindled what I originally felt for the place today.
In the Weldon household, 1960s Liverpool, the wallpaper that my mum chose, for the kitchen, the best room, the kids room, all said something about who she was and what the house meant.
Little Ducks.
In a house of love.
Today in the flea pit, I removed a wallpaper border that was left over from the previous owners of the house, under that was a fantastic retro planes and boats kids border and under that, a homely fifties garden pattern wallpaper.
We found newspaper on the hardwood floors that dates back to wartime, February 16th, 1942 to be exact. The house has it's own rich history, including kids born there who may be in their eighties now, a house with a typical Oshawa history, love, life and tragedy in a motor city town.
Probably mostly love.
